Is LeBron James Right About The Bulls Being “Much Better” Than The Cavaliers Right Now?

Even though the new-look Cleveland Cavaliers haven’t played a single regular season game together yet, they’re already the team to beat in the Eastern Conference this year, according to most NBA fans. Because they have Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, and, of course, LeBron James on their team, the consensus seems to be that the Cavs should win the East this season and contend for an NBA championship. They obviously have the talent to do it and, once they come together as a unit, they shouldn’t have any trouble beating up on other teams in the playoffs. That is, unless you ask LeBron for his opinion on it.

According to him, the Cavs are not the favorite in the East at the moment. Reason being, he thinks that another team is actually “much better” than the Cavs. And that team is none other than Derrick Rose‘s Chicago Bulls.

“[The Bulls] are a team that’s much better than us right now just off chemistry,” LeBron said yesterday before the Cavs played the Bulls in a preseason game. “They’ve been together for awhile, we’ve got a long way to go.”

LeBron does have a point. The Bulls are in a better position to win right now at this very moment because they’re not trying to piece together a lineup filled with guys who haven’t played together in the past. The Bulls have Rose, Joakim Noah, Jimmy Butler, Taj Gibson, and other players who have been a part of the Chicago organization for a few years now. But they also have Pau Gasol on their team now, who is going to have to find his role in the Bulls’ starting lineup, and they also have Rose back from injury, which is going to change the way that the Bulls play and matchup against other teams. So the Bulls aren’t really that much better than the Cavaliers right now. Because just like Cleveland, they need to find their identity at the start of the season and gel as a collective unit before the NBA Playoffs start next year.

Do you agree with LeBron’s assessment of the Bulls, or do you think that his Cavaliers are actually better than Chicago right now? Let us know.
