Is Jim Carrey working on a comeback? He showed of some of his best work in recent memory this week while hosting Saturday Night Live, especially with a series of digital shorts parodying the ads that Matthew McConaughey has made for the Lincoln MKC.

“Sometimes you gotta go back to move forward,” he says, in McConaughey’s flat, gravelly inflection. “And I don’t mean go back and reminisce or chase ghosts. I mean take a big step back, like go from winning an Oscar to doing a car commercial.”

The sketch goes on, echoing the confusion of many: “My agent was like, ‘I could understand if you did this right after the Lincoln Lawyer, that woulda made sense.’”

As the ads continue, McConaughey becomes more unhinged, rolling a booger for hours, saying humanity was a mistake, and then running over the spokesperson of an Allstate commercial.

Carrey was also an incredibly good sport as the entire cast (plus a special guest) trotted out their best Carrey impressions, including some of his oldest characters.

What do you think? What were your favorite sketches of the night? Let us know in the comments below.
