Are Kobe Bryant & The Lakers Thinking About Making A Trade For Rajon Rondo?
The Los Angeles Lakers are not a very good team right now. But despite that, it hasn’t stopped them from trying to win games this season. Kobe Bryant is still going out every single night and doing everything that he can do to help his team win. And according to him, his teammates are putting in the work that’s required to try and win games as well. It hasn’t equated to many victories this season. But at the very least, you can’t blame the Lakers for doing everything that they can to avoid losing. They want to win and they want to win now, before Kobe’s career is over.
With that in mind, there were a whole bunch of Lakers fans out there who got really, really, really excited when this photo started making the rounds on Twitter yesterday:
The photo features Kobe and Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo grabbing breakfast together yesterday morning. And while both players downplayed the significance of them breaking bread—ESPN.com is reporting that they had planned to grab breakfast together weeks ago—some people think that there might be something to the photo.
Rondo is currently in the last year of his contract with the Celtics. And if he’s not willing to re-sign with the team next summer, Boston might look to deal him during the season. So there is some speculation about whether or not the Lakers might want to try and trade for him. In order to get Rondo, they would likely have to give up a slew of draft picks in addition to a couple of assets (like Steve Nash‘s expiring contract). But a trade between the two teams could be done and could instantly improve the Lakers roster.
At this point, we don’t know that we would look too far into the photo of Kobe and Rondo. They very well may have just been grabbing breakfast and socializing. But if nothing else, the photo gives Lakers fans some hope. And that’s something that they desperately need right now.
What do you think about the photo of Kobe Bryant and Rajon Rondo? Do you think there’s any chance the Lakers trade for Rondo? Let us know.
