Does Carmelo Anthony Regret Signing With The Knicks?

With each passing day, it becomes more and more clear that Carmelo Anthony probably should not have re-signed with the New York Knicks last summer. He should have taken his talents to Chicago to run with the Bulls or Los Angeles to play with Kobe Bryant and the Lakers or anywhere but the Big Apple. Because so far this season, the only thing that the Knicks have proven is that they’re nowhere near ready to contend for a championship. And at this point, it’s starting to sound more and more like Carmelo regrets re-signing with them in the offseason.

Last night, the Knicks lost the Bulls. And while Carmelo didn’t play in the game due to soreness in his knee, he did speak with reporters and talked about whether or not regrets his decision to stay in New York. He didn’t come right out and say that he has regrets. But he did sound like a guy who was actively trying not to regret anything as opposed to a guy who is confident with the decision he made.

“No, if I start doing that and saying what if to myself and second-guessing and questioning myself, it won’t be right,” he said. “For me, mentally, it won’t be right, so I’ll not allow myself to sway toward asking myself what if with this situation or that situation. What’s done is done. I kind of don’t look at, I kind of don’t think about it anymore. That’s in the past for me, just a situation that I had to deal with, that I went through this offseason. As far as now and thinking about that situation, it doesn’t even come close to me thinking about that.”

Confused by Carmelo’s answer? Us, too. We get him not wanting to have regrets, but he sounds like a guy who does regret his decision but just doesn’t want to admit it. That’s probably a good thing for the Knicks, because it saves them from having to deal with Carmelo making regretful statements to the media. But to us, Carmelo’s latest admission is a sign of just how close he is to coming out and saying that he’s unhappy with his team. And if they continue to struggle, we think that he will admit to having regrets sooner than later.

What do you think about Carmelo’s latest comments? Do you think he’s going to eventually end up coming out and saying that he regrets signing with the Knicks back in July?
