Winter Storm Juno is expected to blast the Northeast US on Monday and Tuesday this week, dropping up to two feet of snow with wind gusts of up to 55mph in some areas, warns the National Weather Service.

The Weather Channel predicts 8-12″ of snow for Philadelphia, 12-18″ of snow for New York City, and over 24″ for Boston, with peak rates hitting 2″ per hour on Monday night into Tuesday.

The worst conditions will be in New York City, Long Island, and into New England. The Hudson Valley and northern New Jersey will see serious but less severe conditions.

Blizzard conditions will likely make travel impossible. Residents are warned to stay inside, and check regularly on elderly or needy neighbors.
