Many thought this day would never come, and it certainly should have come years ago, but here it is: Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao have signed a contract to face off on May 2, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The deal was announced by Mayweather on Friday on his social media app Shots, after he directed his thousands of Twitter followers to download the app. The ensuing post then showed a signed contract.

Mayweather later released a full statement, saying Pacquiao “will be number 48,” referring to the number of wins Mayweather will have if he remains undefeated in the fight against Pacquiao.

Pacquiao trainer Freddie Roach fired back that “Manny is going to put [Mayweather] on his backside.”

Pacquiao reportedly agreed to take the smaller share of a 60-40 split to ensure the fight. The two men signed a deal back in 2009 for a 2010 fight, but that fell through.
