What Do You Think About Jameis Winston Saying That He Plans On Winning The Super Bowl Next Season?

Even though there’s a good chance that Jameis Winston is going to end up on a team that’s not very good next year, he has high hopes for what he’s going to be able to do during the 2015-16 NFL season. In all likelihood, the former Florida State quarterback is going to get drafted No. 1 overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a team that still has a ways to go before they become a true NFL title contender. But Winston says that he’s going to be ready to make a deep—very deep—run during the NFL Playoffs next year.

“I plan on winning the Super Bowl,” Winston told reporters at the NFL Combine on Friday.

To which everyone said, “The Super Bowl?!”

It’s a completely ridiculous thing for Winston to say. As we mentioned, he’s going to be on a mediocre team next season, even if he doesn’t end up on the Bucs. But at the same time, you love to hear Winston talking about making a Super Bowl run in the middle of February before he’s even been selected in the draft. Reason being, it shows his competitive nature and proves that he’s going to be ready to talk the talk and walk the walk once he gets to the NFL. He’s not a guy who’s going to be content with simply making it into the league. He wants to win once he’s there and win immediately, not four or five years down the line.

Winston is probably, er, make that almost definitely not (never say never!) going to make it to the Super Bowl next season, let alone win it. But the fact that he had the audacity to say “Super Bowl” at the Combine should let you know the kind of player he’s going to be once he reaches the NFL. So we’d be shocked if he didn’t go No. 1 overall in the draft—and even more shocked if he didn’t reaffirm his Super Bowl plans once he’s selected.

What do you think about Winston’s Super Bowl plans?
