Do You Have A Problem With Kevin Love Saying He Would Pick Russell Westbrook As His NBA MVP?

Russell Westbrook has been phenomenal for the Oklahoma City Thunder so far this season. When Kevin Durant went down with a foot injury about a month ago, the thought was that the Thunder might be in big problem. When Serge Ibaka went down with a knee injury a few weeks later, the thought was that there was no way the Thunder would make the postseason. But through all the adversity that the Thunder have faced, Westbrook has remained strong and put up ridiculous numbers for his team. He has recorded nine triple-doubles this season and just about single-handedly allowed them to stay in the playoff race. So he deserves all of the NBA MVP consideration that he’s receiving right now.

But does he deserve it from Kevin Love? The Cleveland Cavaliers star plays alongside LeBron James, who is also an NBA MVP candidate this season. But despite this, Love recently told radio show host Dan Patrick that, if he had a vote for the MVP award, he would choose Westbrook. It seems he’s been more impressed with what Westbrook has done than what LeBron has done in Cleveland. And what he said surprised some people, who wondered why Love would basically vote against his own teammate in the MVP race.

LeBron wasn’t one of those people. When he was asked about Love’s comments on Tuesday, he said that Love is entitled to his opinion and didn’t harbor any ill will against him for picking Westbrook. But it’s still a little bit crazy that Love openly admitted that he wouldn’t vote for LeBron. As LeBron mentioned, he’s allowed to cast his theoretical vote for whoever he wants. But for the sake of team unity, wouldn’t you think that Love would have said LeBron? If nothing else, it would have prevented LeBron from having to answer question about his response.

What do you think about what Kevin Love said? Was it a big deal that he picked Russell Westbrook over LeBron James or not?
