Everyone Needs To Stop Freaking Out About LeBron James and Kevin Love’s Relationship

Do you get along with everybody that you work with? No? If you do, consider yourself lucky, because most people work with at least one person that they can’t stand. It’s just sort of the way the world works. You’re not going to get along with everyone and, in a lot of cases, you’re not going to get along with everybody that you work with simply because you are around them all the time. And with that in mind, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to hear that—gasp—not all NBA teammates like each other or get along off the court.

Despite this, people are still freaking out every other day when it comes to LeBron James and Kevin Love‘s friendship, or lack thereof. When Love agreed to a trade that sent him from the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Cleveland Cavaliers last summer, the thought was that him and LeBron would become best buds and lead the Cavs to a series of NBA titles. But over the course of the last six or seven months, the media has reported about an ongoing rift between the two teammates on a number of occasions. Love has reportedly be slow to buy into the Cavaliers’ team, and LeBron has reportedly been “frustrated” by how Love has acted at times this season. And everyone has something to say about it.

Our reaction to it: Who cares? We get why people would want LeBron and Love to get along. It would make the narrative surrounding the Cavaliers a whole lot cleaner and easier to digest. But if LeBron and Love don’t get along, it’s really not the end of the world. Just like you go to work and get your job done despite not getting along with everyone, LeBron and Love can do the same thing. They could easily make a run all the way to the NBA Finals this season and win a championship without necessarily spending every single day together and becoming besties. We’re sure other NBA stars have done the same thing in the past, and we’re confident that they can function on the court, even if they’re not BFFs off of it.

What do you think about all the hoopla surrounding LeBron James and Kevin Love’s relationship? Is it overblown or do you think it could prevent them from winning a title together?
