Is Floyd Mayweather Really Going To Bail Suge Knight Out Of Jail If He Beats Manny Pacquiao?

There are going to be a lot of boxing fans cheering for Floyd Mayweather to beat Manny Pacquiao on Saturday night. But none of them are going to be cheering quite as much as Suge Knight. Because according to Knight’s lawyer Matthew Fletcher, Mayweather has told Knight that he is going to pay $10 million to bail him out of jail next week, provided he beats Pacquiao.

“My understanding is that Suge is going to be bailed out this coming week,” Fletcher told the New York Daily News today. “We think Mr. Mayweather is going to win the championship and then come champion the day again. They’re good friends, and there’s no reason he shouldn’t. And we believe that will happen.”

Knight could really use a helping hand. He’s been sitting behind bars for a few months now for allegedly running over two men in a parking lot in Compton, Calif. in late January. But is Mayweather really the best person to help him? Granted, he’s projected to make upwards of $200 million for fighting Pacquiao. And even without all of that money that’s coming to him, he’s more than well off and could easily afford to put up $10 million for Knight. But it seems like a really curious move on his part. He doesn’t want to have to try and chase Knight down later if Knight decides to skip bail, does he?

It’s worth noting that Mayweather and Knight are friends. Or at least acquaintances. Just go Google their names and you’ll find images of them kicking it at a club a few years back. So maybe Mayweather really is going to come to Knight’s aid and bail him out. But it seems kind of crazy to us and we don’t know why Mayweather would go too far out of his way to help Knight.

Regardless, Knight is going to cheering his head off on Saturday night. Because if Mayweather ends up losing, his last hope might evaporate along with the boxer’s undefeated record.
