Is Any Team Going To Be Able To Stop Steph Curry & The Warriors In The NBA Playoffs?

The Golden State Warriors cruised through their first-round playoff matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans late last month, sweeping Anthony Davis & Co. in four games. The Pelicans challenged them in a couple of those games. But for the most part, Steph Curry was unstoppable during the series as the Warriors overmatched and outclassed New Orleans. However, the thought was that the Warriors might face a much tougher matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies in the second round because of the Grizzles’ size and their ability to play solid defense.

It looks like that might not be the case, though, after watching Game 1 of the Warriors/Grizzlies series on Sunday afternoon. From the start of the game, Golden State jumped all over Memphis, with everyone from Draymond Green to Andrew Bogut to Klay Thompson to, of course, Curry making major contributions. Granted, the Grizzlies were without their starting point guard Mike Conley, who sustained a severe facial injury during Memphis’ series against the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round. But even if Conley were in the lineup, something tells us the Grizzlies would have struggled to contain the three-point shooting of the Warriors. A week off didn’t affect Golden State in the slightest, and they looked like they’re going to be a very tough team to beat in a seven-game series during the NBA Playoffs.

So is there anyone that can stop them? Prior to the start of the postseason, our money would have been on the San Antonio Spurs to knock off the Warriors in a series. The Spurs have presented matchup problems for the Warriors in the past. But over the weekend, the Spurs were knocked out of the playoffs by the Los Angeles Clippers. So to be honest, we can’t see anyone in the Western Conference or the Eastern Conference giving the Warriors trouble between now and the end of the postseason. And that means that, even with three rounds remaining, the Warriors are most definitely our pick to make it to and win the NBA Finals this season.

Do you think anyone is going to give the Warriors a problem during the postseason, or will they end up winning the title in June?
