Does Anyone Really Want To See Floyd Mayweather & Manny Pacquiao Fight Again?

Sports fans are still trying to wrap their heads around what happened during the Floyd Mayweather/Manny Pacquiao fight on Saturday night. And we don’t necessarily mean that in a good way. After waiting five years to see the fight, most fans were left very disappointed by it. It didn’t feature a lot of action. Pacquiao never really challenged Mayweather. And unfortunately, a lot of people are angry that they had to pay $100 to watch the match. It simply wasn’t worth it. So why then are Mayweather and Pacquiao already talking about…a rematch?

The idea of Floyd and Manny fighting again actually does make sense. At the moment, there aren’t many other boxers that millions and millions of people would actually pay to see. We’re also betting that, if anyone could sell another fight to us, it’d be Floyd and Manny. Once the memory of their first fight starts to fade, Mayweather in particular will be able to sell Mayweather/Pacquiao II to the world. But the problem is that, while Mayweather/Pacquiao I was billed as an event that would save boxing, Mayweather/Pacquiao II would serve as proof that boxing doesn’t have much left in the tank in terms of other fighters that people are interested in. And if that match is as disappointing as the first one? It could be a real problem for boxing as a whole.

As of right now, there are plenty of people saying that they wouldn’t order another Mayweather/Pacquaio fight. But we’re guessing that many of them would come around if and when the two decided to get into the ring again. However, another Mayweather/Pacquiao bout is probably not what boxing needs right now. And if Mayweather and Pacquiao build us up again only to ultimately let us down, there are going to be a lot of sports fans who bail on the sport altogether. So before the two fighters sign on the dotted line for a rematch, we hope they commit to making Mayweather/Pacquiao II better than the first fight.

Would you pay to see another Mayweather/Pacquiao fight? Or are you already over it?
