Is Adrian Peterson Going To Force The Vikings To Trade Him?

The Minnesota Vikings do not want to trade their star running back Adrian Peterson before next season. Even though there are some teams (ahemCowboysahem) that would seemingly be interested in working out a deal for AP, the Vikings have maintained that they are going to hang on to Peterson and make him play out the remainder of his current contract. If nothing else, they want Peterson to give them one or two more seasons before they mutually part ways with him. But it doesn’t sound like Peterson wants any part of it.

Over the last few months, Peterson’s agent has told the Vikings that he wants a trade. And while the team hasn’t made any effort to move him, they might be forced to do it sometime soon because, according to a new report, Peterson is going to skip organized team activities this week. The St. Paul Pioneer Press just revealed that Peterson isn’t going to show up for OTAs when they start on Tuesday and that he’s hoping it will be the last straw for the Vikings. If all goes according to plan, they’ll respond by giving into Peterson’s demand for a trade after seeing how badly he wants the team to trade him.

The problem for Peterson is that the Vikings will be able to dock him up to $250,000 if he doesn’t attend at least 90 percent of OTAs this offseason. So Peterson could end up costing himself quite a bit of money if he doesn’t show up this week. And there’s also a chance that the Vikings will continue to refuse to trade him, even if he doesn’t attend OTAs. At this point, they’re not going to get much for him in a trade. So there wouldn’t be much harm in them holding on to Peterson, even if he’s unhappy with the team’s decision to do it.

Do you think the Vikings should trade Peterson? Or should they hold on to him next season?
