US Capitol Police have disposed of a pressure cooker found in a van parked on the National Mall.

The van was spotted during a routine patrol. Police say it smelled of gasoline, and appeared to contain a pressure cooker and propane tank in the back. Pressure cookers have been under increased scrutiny since they were used to construct bombs used in the deadly attack on the Boston Marathon in 2013.

The bomb squad was called in, and reportedly ”disrupted items of concern in the vehicle including the pressure cooker” with a controlled detonation.

The van’s driver was arrested for driving with a revoked license.
