Does Ronda Rousey Really Believe She Could Beat Floyd Mayweather In A Fight?

Ronda Rousey doesn’t like Floyd Mayweather or what he stands for. She made that perfectly clear at the 2015 ESPY Awards last month when she took a shot at the boxer after receiving an award on the red carpet. And it doesn’t sound like she’s going to stop taking shots at him anytime soon, as she managed to let off another one during a Reddit “Ask Me Anything” session on Monday.

One fan asked Rousey whether or not she thinks she could beat Mayweather in a fight. Rousey replied by saying that, while Mayweather would beat her in a boxing match, she would reign supreme if the two were ever involved in a no-holds-barred fight. She believes in her ability to beat anyone and doesn’t think things would go any differently than they have in her past fights if she knuckled up with Mayweather.

“He would definitely beat me in a boxing match,” she said. “I unfortunately don’t get into ‘matches.’ I fight for a living. In a no-rules fight, I believe I can beat anyone on this planet. Boxing is a sweet science with strict rules that I respect very much and aspire every day to improve at. But you said ruleless fight, and that’s my honest answer.”

As we’ve mentioned in the past, there is no way that Rousey and Mayweather will actually ever fight. They would both have to be way down on their luck to agree to some sort of bizarre boxing vs. MMA matchup in the future. So Rousey can say whatever she wants now and, technically, she’ll never be forced to back it up. But the mythical Rousey vs. Mayweather fight is something that is going to continue to be talked about for years to come because of how dominant Rousey has been in her sport. So we need to pose the question: Do you really think Rousey could beat Mayweather?

We don’t know, but we do know that Rousey wouldn’t back down from the challenge.
