Is Ronda Rousey Going To Stand Up A Marine After Agreeing To Accompany Him To The Marine Corps Ball?

Times are tough for Ronda Rousey right now. And unfortunately, they might get even tougher for her if she doesn’t follow through on a promise she made earlier this year.

Back in August, a U.S. Marine named Jarrod Haschert put together a Facebook video asking Rousey to accompany him to the annual Marine Corps Ball. At the time, Rousey was scheduled to take part in her fight against Holly Holm on the same weekend as the ball, so it didn’t look like it would be possible for her to serve as the Marine’s date. However, when the fight got moved up to November, that all changed and, after the Marine’s video took off on Facebook and racked up more than four million views, Rousey told TMZ Sports that she would be honored to accompany the Marine to the ball. The logistics surrounding the date seemed unclear at the time—Rousey didn’t know how to get in touch with the Marine—but, with about three months to go before the ball, we assumed it would all work itself out.

Rousey went into hiding after her loss to Holm, though, and hasn’t been heard from much in recent weeks, outside of her involvement in an ESPN The Magazine cover story. And while that’s to be expected, it doesn’t sound like the Marine has heard from Rousey at all about going to the ball with him. He took to Facebook last week to let everyone know that he hasn’t heard from Rousey and, earlier this week, his mom spoke with New Jersey radio station 101.5 and said that her son still hasn’t heard from Rousey. So is Rousey really going to stand the Marine up?

Unfortunately, it sure seems that way. By now, the Marine should have heard something. But now that the topic is trending on Facebook, Rousey has to, at the very least, say something about it to the Marine, right? She can’t just leave him hanging. It would be a terrible look for her at a time when the last thing she needs is bad press.

Hopefully, she has a trick up her sleeve. It would be amazing to see her actually follow through on the date and show up to the ball. Not only would it show that she’s a woman of her word, but it would also put her back into a favorable light, which is what she needs right now.

The ball is tonight, so stay tuned. It’ll be interesting to see whether or not she decides to show up.
