Why Is There Already A Report About What Steph Curry Might Do If He Doesn’t Get Along With Kevin Durant?

Steph Curry is, by all accounts, a really, really good teammate. Even though he’s arguably the best player in the entire NBA right now, he doesn’t appear to have a big ego, and he routinely jokes around with and encourages every single player on the Golden State Warriors roster. It doesn’t matter if you’re Klay Thompson, a fellow NBA All-Star, or the 15th guy on the bench. Curry treats everyone on his team the same, which is why you don’t hear very many negative reports coming out of Oakland during the NBA season when it comes to Golden State’s team chemistry.

So why then is there already a report about what Curry might do next summer when he becomes a free agent if his relationship with Kevin Durant becomes “poisonous” at some point during the upcoming season?

Bleacher Report reporter Ric Bucher spoke with someone representing an NBA title contender on Wednesday, and that person told him that his team already has a plan in place to “poach” Curry from the Warriors next summer in the event that he doesn’t get along with KD. Forget that Curry hasn’t played a single game with KD. There’s at least one team banking on the Warriors becoming a dysfunctional bunch next season!

“There are 29 teams hoping the chemistry between Kevin Durant and Steph Curry is poisonous,” Bucher reported. “But there is one team that is planning for it. I’ve been told by one of the league’s title contenders that they hope to poach Curry. They see KD taking the last-minute shots that were once Curry’s domain. Their pitch will be, ‘Come to us and you can be the man once more.’”

It’s not really a surprise to hear that other NBA teams are going to try and swoop in and make an offer to Curry next summer. After all, he’s one of the best in the basketball business, so they’re going to at least ask if he wants to join a new team. But doesn’t it seem a tad crazy that there are already reports about a fractured Curry/KD relationship when, again, they haven’t even actually suited up with one another yet? Can’t we wait until October or November for those reports to start coming out?

Guess not. If this is a sign of things to come for the Warriors, it’s going to be one crazy season.
