Trump Campaign Manager: “He Doesn’t Hurl Personal Insults”

Donald Trump‘s new campaign manager is pursuing new heights of denial in service to her boss. Appearing on ABC’s This Week on Sunday, Kellyanne Conway said Trump does not traffic in negative speech.

Conway spent several minutes deflecting questions from host George Stephanopoulos about Trump’s comments, and whether he really apologized to people like the Khans and John McCain. After being shown footage of herself insulting Trump earlier in the campaign (when she worked for a PAC supporting Ted Cruz), Conway said she “stood by” what she said, that she doesn’t like personal insults, and neither does Trump.

“He doesn’t hurl personal insults,” Conway said. “He, just this week — look what he talked about. He’s bringing the case right to communities of color in Michigan, and he’s speaking to all Americans when he does that. What he’s doing is he’s challenging the Democratic Party. He’s challenging President Obama and Hillary Clinton‘s legacy.”

Weeks ago, the New York Times compiled a list of 250 people, places, and things that Trump has insulted.

Conway was hired during the campaign’s most recent shakeup. After attempting to appear more “presidential,” the recent change suggests Trump will return to his earlier campaign style.
