SNL Skewers Trump As Lin Manuel Miranda Hosts

Saturday Night Live began this week discussing… exactly the issue you’d think. The cold open sketch began as a replay of this week’s Vice Presidential debate, before cutting to “breaking news” of Donald Trump‘s comments about women.

Alec Baldwin returned as the Orange One, who refuses to apologize and continually gets caught on a hot mic; and Kate MacKinnon‘s Hillary Clinton pops champagne and pleads for Trump to stay in the race.

Host Lin-Manuel Miranda certainly brought the theater with him as one of the only (if not the first) star known primarily for Broadway to lead the show. His monologue featured an “SNL” version of the song “My Shot” from his massive hit Hamilton; and sketches featured high school drama club productions of The Crucible, teachers rapping Shakespeare, and The Music Man.
