Donald Trump Returns to SNL
Saturday Night Live was just as shocked as anyone after Donald Trump‘s surprise victory last week, and didn’t feature any sketches of him (instead, they went the heartfelt route, with Kate McKinnon as Hillary Clinton singing “Hallelujah”). But this week, the show returned to form with a cold open that imagined President-elect Trump (Alec Baldwin) facing the reality that he actually has to be president.
The sketch addressed how Trump was quick to rollback some of his campaign promises. It mostly painted him as a nervous flip-flopper, but did include a crack about the giddiness among white nationalists over his early cabinet appointments. (Kellyanne Conway squeaks out that David Duke is very excited.)
SNL alum Kristen Wiig hosted. She brought back some of her classic sketches, like Secret Word, and Sue (“So Freakin’ Excited!”). But her best known characters, like Penelope, Target Lady, Gilly, and Kat (of Garth and Kat) didn’t make appearances.
