The Latest LeBron James/Steph Curry Story Adds More Fuel To The Cavaliers/Warriors Rivalry Fire
LeBron James and Steph Curry are two of the best players in the NBA right now, and at the end of their respective careers, there’s a pretty good chance that they will go down as two of the best players to ever step foot on a basketball court. So deep down, we imagine that they both respect one another very much.
But good luck getting them to admit to it right now! It would appear as though they have a strong dislike for each other, and they haven’t been shy about sharing it with the rest of the world, albeit in subtle ways. It’s led to a healthy rivalry between LeBron’s Cleveland Cavaliers and Steph’s Golden State Warriors—and that rivalry will, in all likelihood, lead to another epic matchup in the 2017 NBA Finals this season.
The latest news surrounding the rivalry involves a story regarding a Halloween party that LeBron threw earlier this year. There have already been several other stories regarding the party told a couple months ago—including one about how LeBron had props that mocked the 3-1 lead the Warriors blew during the 2016 NBA Finals at the party (see below)—but the latest one is a real doozy.
It involves a Steph dummy that was apparently laid down on the floor at the party, which forced fans to step over it when they walked in. ESPN.com shared the story after the Cavaliers beat the Warriors in their Christmas Day matchup, and it got its fair share of attention over the next two days. And for good reason. LeBron isn’t normally one to take shots at his opponents, but the Warriors appear to have gotten under his skin in recent years.
This is, as we already mentioned, healthy. In 2016, it’s rare to see NBA players going at one another on or off the court. Players like LeBron, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, and Dwyane Wade are so buddy-buddy that they tend to play nice more often than not.
But the Cavaliers and Warriors truly seem to hate each other, and it’s going to lead to some much-anticipated matchups between the two sides in the future. Their names are all but penciled into the Finals this season, and assuming they both make it back, their series is going to be great after all that has transpired since the NBA Finals ended back in May.
Rest assured, the Warriors won’t forget stories like the one about the Steph dummy, just like the Cavaliers won’t forget what Draymond Green had to say about Cleveland earlier this season. Fortunately for us, we’ll get to sit back and watch the two teams go to work and settle their score on the court instead of at a Halloween party. Can we please just fast-forward to the Finals now?
