Kris Marshall Rumored To Be The New Doctor
British actor Kris Marshall is rumored to be replacing Peter Capaldi on Doctor Who. The news is being met with mixed reactions, as many had been hoping that the 13th doctor would be a woman and/or person of color for the first time in its 26-season history.
Marshall is best known to British audiences for the TV series My Family and Death in Paradise. He is not well known outside the UK, except from the 2003 holiday classic Love Actually. In it, he plays the love-lorn Colin Frissell, who succeeds in his plan to sleep with beautiful women by leaving England for Wisconsin, where he will be found exotic.
Marshall had long been a leading contender for the role, but other prominent names include Tilda Swinton, Olivia Colman, and Richard Ayoade. Capaldi has expressed hope the role would go to actress Frances de la Tour.
