American Airlines Flight Attendant to Passenger: “Hit Me”

Submitted by on April 23, 2017 – 11:22 amNo Comment

The airline industry suffered another PR nightmare this week when video surfaced of a woman sobbing on an American Airlines flight, while another passenger and a flight attendant come close to a physical altercation.

The video, shot by a third passenger, shows a woman sobbing and clutching an infant. Not seen is what allegedly preceded the video. Passengers say that a flight attendant forcibly took a stroller from the woman, hitting her with it during the struggle, and almost hitting the baby. The woman can be heard pleading for the stroller, while other flight attendants say it was an accident.

When the male flight attendant reemerges, a male passenger gets up and says “You do that to me and I’ll knock you flat.” The flight attendant then challenges him, and the two approach each other before they are separated.

American Airlines issued a statement saying they had begun an investigation, and that the woman in the video was given a first class ticket on a different flight.

“We are deeply sorry for the pain we have caused this passenger and her family and to any other customers affected by the incident,” the airline said.

Earlier this month, video showed a 69-year-old passenger bleeding and being dragged off a United flight. The airline had overbooked the flight, and attempted to remove passengers even after they had been allowed to board. Making matter worse, United CEO Oscar Munoz, did not apologize for days, saying first that passengers had to be “re-accomodated” and United “employees [had] followed established procedures.”
