Perry, whose potential involvement in ‘Idol’ was first reported by TMZ, would be looking to join host Ryan Seacrest who also is in talks to resume his duties on the revamp. Both are expected to command marquee salaries for what is shaping up to be a big-budget ‘Idol’ reboot.

American Idol, which originally aired on Fox, is a singing competition television series created by Simon Fuller. It began airing on Fox on June 11, 2002, and ended on April 7, 2016. During its run, it was one of the most successful shows in the history of American television. The concept of the series involves discovering recording stars from unsigned singing talents, with the winner determined by the viewers in America through telephones, Internet, and SMS text voting.
