Kevin Durant Refuses to Answer Rihanna Question After NBA Finals Game

Kevin Durant played one hell of a game against the Cavaliers in Game 1 of the 2017 NBA Finals on Thursday night. KD scored 38 points, grabbed 8 rebounds, and dished out 8 assists during the Warriors’ 113-91 win against Cleveland. But after the game ended, all anyone wanted to talk about was the brief exchange KD seemed to have with LeBron James stan Rihanna on the sideline at one point towards the end of the game.

With the Warriors leading comfortably in the second half, Rihanna appeared to yell “Brick!” in KD’s direction as he shot a pair of free throws. It was unclear at the time if KD heard what she said, but late in the fourth quarter, KD sunk a three-pointer right in front of the singer and then turned around for a moment and looked her way as if to say, “Did you see that?”

After the game, a reporter told KD that everyone on social media was buzzing about what KD did and questioning whether or not he really stared down Rihanna. But when he was pressed for further comment, KD refused to speak about the shot or Rihanna.

“Really?” he asked the reporter, before his teammate Steph Curry stepped in and told KD not to “get into that trap.” KD laughed at what Curry said before telling the reporter, “Yeah, I won’t get into that. I’m cool.”

Despite the Cavaliers’ blowout loss to Golden State, Rihanna didn’t seem like she was in a bad mood after the game. She was spotted leaving Oracle Arena in Oakland and yelling, “The King is still the King,” a reference to LeBron’s nickname King James. But if nothing else, her brief beef with KD made an otherwise forgettable Finals game interesting—and it set the stage for what should be a better Game 2 on Sunday night.
