About DJ PREMIER:
Aggressive and raw, a DJ Premier track is an instantly recognizable soundclash of battling loops and heavy scratching—all of them perfectly timed—that evokes the sound of Brooklyn better than anyone. Besides helming tracks for his main concern, Gang Starr, since their 1989 debut, Premier’s productions have appeared on many of the East Coast’s most important records, including Nas‘s Illmatic, the Notorious B.I.G.‘s Ready To Die and Jay-Z‘s Reasonable Doubt. Premier, born Chris Martin, spent time in Brooklyn and Houston growing up. Preemo continues to work with some of the biggest names in hip-hop, making new music for chart-topping acts like Kanye West and Drake plus legends like KRS-One and Pete Rock. He can also be seen as the official DJ for the ciphers on BET’s annual Hip-Hop Awards and plays live gigs regularly across the country and all over the world.
